Dr. John Cottingham is a member of the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Academy of Anti-Aging.
Dr. Cottingham received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas and completed his residency training at Methodist Hospital which is affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine.
Prior to entering medical school, Dr. Cottingham became interested in preventive medicine and healthy lifestyles while doing graduate work in human fitness and performance at the University of Houston.
While doing research in the prevention of infectious disease at Shriners Burns Hospital in Galveston, Dr. Cottingham developed an interest in plastic surgery. This interest in plastics, healthy lifestyles, and disease prevention was pursued while a resident at Methodist Hospital with elective training and rotations in plastic surgery and sports medicine.
In addition, Dr. Cottingham has received additional training and experience in liposuction and laser lipolysis from two of the pioneers in this technique in the United States.
