Education and Training
Dr. True graduated with honors from Pocatello High School in Pocatello, Idaho. He received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree with honors from Idaho State University. He successfully completed the certification test for pharmacy in Idaho and in Nevada, and became a Registered Pharmacist. After working as a full time pharmacist for three years, his desire was to embrace more patient contact, so he entered medical school in 1976. He was granted a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Nevada Medical School in Reno Nevada, graduating with honors.
After medical school, Dr. True completed his internship at one of the most reputable programs in the nation, Charity Hospital in New Orleans Louisiana, affiliated with Tulane University Medical School. After internship, he practiced emergency medicine full time in Louisiana hospitals for two years. Subsequently, he returned to New Orleans to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology again at Charity Hospital under the acclaimed Tulane division. During his residency, he acquired extensive training in surgical techniques and had the luxury of training with many of today’s pre-eminent gynecologic surgeons from Nevada to Louisiana. During his last year in residency, Dr. True was given the prestigious honor by his professors and fellow resident colleagues of serving as chief resident of the OB-GYN department of Charity Hospital of New Orleans.
Dr. True was interested in expanding his surgical skills and interests to include cosmetic procedures, so during his last year of residency, he attended further training in traditional liposuction body contouring surgery. He became a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons.
After completion of his residency in 1986, Dr. True started his practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Arlington, Texas. He immediately became very busy in his obstetrics and gynecology practice and incorporated liposuction and body contouring into his practice. He received further training in the advanced technique of tumescent liposuction and was one of the first physicians in Texas to incorporate
SmartLipo ™ Laser Liposculpture into his practice.
Because of his extensive experience in liposuction techniques, he now is one of a few select cosmetic surgeons who teach these techniques to physicians from around the world. His accredited course is sponsored by the American Academy of Cosmetic Gynecologists (AAOCG.ORG). He is also a preceptor of Tumescent Liposuction and SmartLipo™ to help train physicians in these techniques.
Dr. True is one of a very few physicians trained in the technique of Awake Breast Augmentation. Trained by the talented surgeon who developed and improved this technique to be performed “under the muscle” for improved cosmetic appearance, he is privileged to be able to offer this innovative technique to his patients who desire painless breast augmentation while they’re awake without being put to sleep.
Dr. Robert L. True is a Board Certified Surgeon. He is an Associate of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He is part of the faculty of the American Academy of Cosmetic Gynecologists.

Over the years, Dr. True has made a name for himself in the Tarrant County community and around the country. Locally, he is known for the quality of his work and for the care he provides his patients. Nationally he is known for his teaching and mentoring skills through his workshops he has developed with the American Academy of Cosmetic Gynecologists. He has been selected by local news media and television shows for his expertise in cosmetic and gynecologic procedures. He has recently been featured in the television show “Hot on Health and Beauty”. In addition, Dr.True was chosen by Conceptus to represent the company on local radio for the Essure procedure in 2007.
An advocate of improved women’s health and preventive care medicine, Dr. True has been asked to speak to local groups about these topics. Because of his interest and knowledge of prevention and anti-aging medicine, he created and developed a wellness program called The True Wellness. Part of this interest is in dieting and weight loss. His program, called The True Diet, is featured on the internet as a respected weight-loss and fitness program. Created from evidence based medicine, his programs were established to create a win-win situation for anyone who grasps its wellness opportunity in many ways. His book, The True Diet, is available on line and in hardback.
Medical Director and Consultant
Dr. True is the Medical Director for True Aesthetics Center. He is an editor for SmartLipo.com, and is author of the book The True Diet. He is CEO and Founder of The True Wellness Company and is the Medical Director and author of the articles for the online internet program TheTrueDiet.com. He is teacher and preceptor for the AAOCG and SmartLipo™.
Family and Personal
Dr. True was born in Pocatello, Idaho. His father was a meat cutter from Washington State and his mother was a teacher from Italy. Raised in an Italian family where his mother and grandmother always spoke Italian, Dr. True is able to speak several languages, including Spanish, Italian, and English. His mother was a fourth grade school teacher for 35 years and instilled in him the spirit to continually improve himself through constructive avenues. His father, a World War II veteran who only had a ninth grade education, instilled in him a work ethic that no school could teach.
During his free time, Dr. True enjoys spending time with his wife, Pam, and his family including his daughter Kim and son Robert. He enjoys traveling, self improvement, exercising, and educational activities.
