What is not so well known is that many women are dissatisfied with the appearance of their vagina, more specifically the appearance of the labia minora (the inner lips). After multiple childbirths and with age, collagen shrinks and skin loses its elasticity causing the labia to elongate and thin. To correct this, Dr. Torres will often use soft tissue fillers like Restylane or autologous fat transfer to restore thin labia. In addition to Cosmetic Gynecology, Dr. Torres performs innovative functional Gynecological procedures that help restore vaginal function after childbirth. With multiple vaginal deliveries, the vaginal wall becomes stretched and muscles tear, causing a feeling of looseness to this area. With a distended or 'loose' vagina, women experience loss of sensation during sex and even lose interest in sexual activity all together." With this procedure, the diameter of the vagina is also reduced with the goal of re-establishing sensual sensation.
